What We Do

residential plumbing

Residential Plumbing

We specialise in maintenance and renovation plumbing for homes across the Hibiscus Coast. That includes Dux Quest replacements, full repipes, general maintenance plumbing, and fixture replacements. Whether it’s a leaking tap that’s been on the to-do list for months or a full bathroom reno, we handle it properly and keep you informed throughout.

residential plumbing

Hot Water Cylinders

Whether your cylinder is leaking, failing, or just well past its best, we can diagnose, replace or upgrade it. We can walk you through your options clearly before any work starts. We handle both mains pressures and low-pressure systems, and we’ll always let you know upfront what’s involved.

bathroom renovation

Bathroom Renovations

Bathroom renovations are one of our most requested services, and for good reason. A well-planned reno adds real value to your home, and getting the plumbing right is what makes it last. We handle the full plumbing scope on bathroom renovations, from relocating waste and water lines to installing new showers, baths, basins, and toilets. We work alongside your builder or contractor, show up when we say we will, and keep the project moving. Clean job, clear communication, no dramas. Free quotes on all bathroom renovation plumbing.

showers

Shower Repair and Installation

A dripping shower head, faulty mixer, or low pressure that never seems to improve: these are the kinds of jobs we sort out every week. We repair and replace all types of shower fittings and mixers, and if you’re upgrading as part of a renovation we can advise on the best setup for your space and budget.

dux quest

Dux Quest Pipe Replacement

If your home was built between the 1970s and 1990s, there’s a good chance it still has Dux Quest plastic piping. This type of pipe is known to become brittle and fail over time, and it’s a common cause of leaks and water damage in older Hibiscus Coast homes. We carry out full Dux Quest replacements and partial repipes, and we offer free quotes on all pipe replacement work. If you’re not sure whether your home has Dux Quest, give us a call and we can take a look.

blocked pipes

Blocked Drains and Drain Unblocking

Slow-draining sinks, blocked drains, or something more serious like tree root intrusion: we’ve got the hydrojetting and CCTV equipment to diagnose and clear it properly, not just temporarily. Drain unblocking is one of the most common jobs we get called out for across the Hibiscus Coast, and we’ll always tell you exactly what we found and what we recommend before any work starts.

spouting and gutters

PVC Spouting, Guttering and Rainwater Harvesting

We install, repair, and maintain PVC gutters and downpipes to protect your home from water damage, and we can advise on rainwater harvesting setups if that’s on your radar.

water pump

Water Pump Repair and Maintenance

From pump assessments to repairs, we handle water pump work across the Hibiscus Coast and surrounding areas. Whether your pump has stopped working, is running constantly, or making noises it shouldn’t be, we can diagnose the issue and give you clear options. If your pump needs to come in for workshop assessment, there’s a flat-fee charge on top of the standard callout, and we’ll always tell you that before we remove it.

FAQ

What areas does FlowFix service?

We service the full Albany to Warkworth corridor on the Hibiscus Coast, including Orewa, Silverdale, Millwater, Milldale, Whangaparaoa, Red Beach, Hatfields Beach, Waiwera, Puhoi, and Warkworth. Call us on 0272 694 949 to confirm we cover your area.

How much does a plumber callout cost on the Hibiscus Coast?

FlowFix charges a standard callout fee covering travel, the first 30 minutes of labour, and small consumables, with an hourly rate billed in 15-minute increments after that. Materials are billed separately. After-hours rates apply outside Monday to Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm and on weekends and public holidays. Call us on 027 265 4949 for current rates. We’re always upfront before any work begins.

Why does my toilet keep running after flushing?

A running toilet is usually caused by a faulty inlet valve, flush valve, or washer failure. In some cases individual components can be replaced; in others, replacing the full valve system is the most reliable fix. It’s worth getting it looked at promptly as a constantly running toilet wastes a significant amount of water and adds to your bill.

What should I do if I have no hot water?

Many no-hot-water issues are electrical rather than plumbing-related. A failed heating element or tripped circuit breaker is often the first thing to check, and that may require an electrician. If the cylinder is leaking, making unusual noises, or you suspect a plumbing fault, give us a call and we can help diagnose what’s going on.

How do I clear a blocked drain?

The most reliable DIY option is a plunger. Avoid pouring baking soda, vinegar, or hot water down drains as these methods are not effective for most blockages, and hot water should never be poured into a toilet as it can crack the porcelain. For persistent or recurring blockages, it is best to call a plumber. We use professional drain-clearing equipment and hydrojetting to clear blockages properly without damaging your pipes.

What is Dux Quest pipe and does my home have it?

Dux Quest is a type of plastic piping used in New Zealand homes built between the 1970s and 1990s. Over time it becomes brittle and prone to cracking, which can cause leaks inside walls and ceilings, often without obvious warning signs. If your home was built during that period and hasn’t been repiped, it may still have Dux Quest. FlowFix carries out Dux Quest assessments and full or partial replacements across the Hibiscus Coast, with free quotes on all pipe replacement work.

When should I call a plumber instead of trying to fix it myself?

Call a plumber for burst pipes, persistent leaks, toilet or drain blockages that won’t clear with a plunger, slow-draining sinks throughout the house, leaking hot water cylinders, or any plumbing work involved in a renovation. All plumbing renovation work should be carried out by a qualified, certified plumber.
